A few reflections after returning from the Alliott Global Alliance® EMEA Regional Meeting in Milan, where the firm was represented by Michał Wołoszański and Marta Solarska-Kaleńczuk.
What we always appreciate about Alliott meetings is the balance between a strong, carefully designed programme and the conversations that surround it — and this year’s edition delivered on both.
Year after year, the base of clients we serve jointly with other member firms keeps growing. Matters that start in one jurisdiction more and more often require coordinated work across two, three or more, and the relationships we build at meetings like the one in Milan are what makes that coordination possible without friction afterwards. The colleagues we spend two days with at the meeting are the same colleagues we will be in touch with next month about a contract, a regulatory question or a structuring problem that needs a multijurisdictional perspective at the same table.
For our clients, this translates into something very concrete: consistent quality of advice across borders, faster response when a matter expands into a new jurisdiction, and trusted working relationships rather than ad-hoc introductions.
Many of the discussions this year also confirmed how much our challenges overlap. The integration of AI into legal work, regulatory divergence within the EU, generational change in the profession, and the pressure to keep international service standards stable while the economics of legal work continue to shift — these are not local problems. They are the shared agenda of every serious firm operating in our region today.
One moment worth mentioning from this edition: Michał Wołoszański had the opportunity to moderate the panel on AI in legal practice — a conversation that confirmed how seriously the profession is now taking the integration of these tools into client work, with discipline rather than enthusiasm. Many of these operational themes are precisely the questions LexRing, a legaltech company led by our managing partner, was built to address. The practical input provided by the panellists was not only insightful, but also challenging for many members. We are already looking forward to the Worldwide edition in Amsterdam this November and to the 2027 EMEA Regional — and, who knows, perhaps one day to welcoming the EMEA meeting a little closer to home.
